Bunion Repair

Here is a recent photo of bunion repair from the ALRPC team.

Surgery Time: Less than 1 hour

Procedure: Surgical fracture with a screw fixation

Post-operative pain: one pain pill total (two halves)

This is an image of an x-ray (fluoroscopic image) that was taken in the operating room during the bunion surgery.  The imaging is necessary to confirm proper alignment and placement of the screw.  Notice the left 1st metatarsal (long bone) has been surgically fractured and realigned and secured with the screw.  Any remaining bump on the side of the bone is shaved off.
